Overview

Opened in 2022, the Library of the Silla Millennium is located inside the Gyeongju National Museum. Formerly a storage facility, the library retains the original exterior of a traditional Korean hanok while reinterpreting the interior with a modern touch. It houses books published by the museum, along with domestic and international catalogs and publications related to the Silla dynasty and Gyeongju. In the book curation room, books are selected around specific themes by museum curators and librarians, and various book events are held. In 2022, the library was awarded the Golden Scale Best Design Award by KOSID.

Best Time to Visit

South Korea has four distinct seasons. Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the most popular times to visit. Summer brings humidity and occasional typhoons, while winter is cold but great for ski resorts and festivals.
