Overview

Celebrating its 30th edition, the Bupyeong Pungmul Festival brings rhythm, excitement, and community spirit to the heart of the city. Since its launch in 1997, the festival has grown into one of Korea’s leading traditional cultural and performing arts festivals. For nearly three decades, it has filled the urban landscape with the vibrant sounds of Korean pungmul, creating a dynamic space where citizens and artists come together. At the heart of the festival are the pungmul troupes from Bupyeong’s 22 neighborhoods, whose lively rhythms have long served as a powerful force for community unity. Held for three days from October 2 to 4, 2026, the 30th Bupyeong Pungmul Festival carries special significance as it reflects on the traditions built over the past three decades while celebrating a new chapter for the future. This year’s edition will be bigger and more colorful than ever, expanding into the Gulpocheon Stream area, an iconic symbol of Bupyeong’s urban regeneration, and presenting an even wider variety of programs and experiences.

Best Time to Visit

South Korea has four distinct seasons. Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the most popular times to visit. Summer brings humidity and occasional typhoons, while winter is cold but great for ski resorts and festivals.
