Overview

Jincheongyujeom is a seasonal Korean restaurant tucked into the alleys of Yeonnam-dong in Mapo-gu, Seoul. The kitchen uses freshly pressed sesame and perilla oils prepared in-house each day, adding depth and aroma to its dishes. Signature items include buckwheat noodles with perilla oil, bibimbap, brisket soup, ssambap (leaf wraps and rice) with beef soybean paste, grilled mackerel with fern risotto, hanu (Korean beef) tartare with seaweed gimbap, and smoked beef short ribs. Popular sides include pollock roe potato pancakes, chilled sliced pork, and olbanggae muk salad (arrowroot starch jelly salad).

Bottled sesame and perilla oils (200 ml) are also available for purchase, individually or as sets. The menu is available in multiple languages and includes vegan and gluten-free options. Corkage is available. The restaurant is about an 8–10 minute walk from Exit 3 of Hongik University Station.

Best Time to Visit

South Korea has four distinct seasons. Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the most popular times to visit. Summer brings humidity and occasional typhoons, while winter is cold but great for ski resorts and festivals.
